Gitigaan – Gardening

Ojibwe history, culture, and tradition as we learn about:

Maajiigin – Growing

Asigin – Gathering

Manoominike – Harvesting Rice

Gibaakabidoo – Preserving

Gitigaan is a 10 week program on horticultural and nutritional topics that combine current information with Ojibwe history, culture, and tradition. Evening discussions are led by horticulturalists, Native American Elders, and other Resource people.

Class sessions are held in the Fond du Lac Tribal Center in the ENP Dining Room, #1420.

This program began in the late 1990s and is funded primarily by Fond du Lac Band of Lake Superior Chippewa. As of 2011, Thirteen Moons is a partial supporter of the Gitigaan program.
